GAME ON! San Diego County Fair - Flower & Garden Show

This year's San Diego County Fair's theme is GAME ON! With all the crazy rides, sinful FOOD, and fun-filled games, it can become all about the competition... Who's gonna win a prize at the fair?! Let the  games begin! 

For the 2nd year in a row, Embellishmint has participated in the Flower & Garden Show's vignette design competition. This year's overall theme was GAME ON! with the concept of ARCADE OF COLOR, so we found our inspiration in that of red, white and blue - the Patriot Games.  

My partner in crime, Ann Strobel of Ann's Plans started to pull from her personal collection of Americana memorabilia, and the styling began. Typical of the two of us, we just can't help but go above and beyond, creating an entire wedding tablescape and background scenario. After several shopping trips and crafting sessions, our entire vision came to life.

We had to submit a written description of our vignette inspiration: PATRIOT GAMES 

After the game of courtship, begins the game of love. When two people join each other in marriage, the game of life begins. Inspired by traditional Americana, this vignette is a commemoration of family. Home is truly where the heart is.

This warm and inviting tabletop scene is set in the colors of freedom: red, white and blue. While a wedding is the first celebration a couple shares, we incorporated the elements of true Americana in the styling, envisioning the home they will create together.

Drawing inspiration from a bride-to-be who experienced the tragedy of 9/11, we choose to design this floral vignette with her wedding day in mind. As they become Mr. Stars & Mrs. Stripes, their guests can enjoy the denim upholstered “candy wall” with jean pockets filled with lollipops, licorice and pinwheel favors. The old-fashion bicycle doubles in floral décor with escort cards pinned to the wheels to show guests to their tables. The vintage games surround the festivities for entertainment but as a reminder that the game of life recycles and one day will be in the hands of their children.

This house is the American Dream…with a white picket fence, under the twinkling stars honoring the union of two independents as they become one.
