La Jolla Luau April 2008

Aloha oukuo! “Hello to you all!” E komo mai! “Welcome!” Our greeting to you should be a hint of what our weekend was like in La Jolla, April 12th 2008.

Flavors of the islands were
abundant! Vibrant hues of burnt tangerine and shocking fuchsia were grounded by Earthy tones of crushed sand, fruit wood hued bamboo and palm frond greens… all framed by vibrant patterned linen and tropical floral.
The patio and pool was accented with tiki torches to really bring in that Luau flare! Sweets lined the dessert table, including Coconut Macaroons and s’mores goodie bags ready for an open fire pit.

Recommended ‘floral of the day’ was a collection of Orchids, Tuberose, Asiatic & Casablanca Lilies, vibrant red and yellow Roses, exotic Protea, Birds of Paradise, Cockscomb and Pincushions, blended with a Tropical Leaf collection and finally, a splash of sunshine!

Our day began with an amazing blank canvas: a beautiful La Jolla home right on the coast in Bird Rock. Red Letter Days, Rebecca & Mia were the Coordination team that pulled it all together. The tables, chavari chairs and stunning linen were provided by Concepts Party Rentals. Last, but not least, Mosiac Catering
prepared some amazing cuisine.

Our staff Photographer, Scott O'Hara captured some great shots from the day. As you can see by the images we’ve included here, there was no lack of color. The weather couldn’t have been more appropriate for the event with temperatures in the upper 80’s along the coast. Thankfully one of us had the pleasure of swimming in this incredible pool to anchor the floating pool centerpieces. It was a dirty job, but someone had to take the plunge! :o)

Needless to say, as always once the “production chaos” is cleaned up the final product speaks for itself. We only wish we could have stayed and really enjoyed what we all created as a team.

Mahalo nui loa, “Thank you very much,” to Red Letter Days for your hard work and efforts. It was a wonderful experience to bring a taste of the Islands to the coast of La Jolla! We look forward to our next journey somewhere over the rainbow…
